A New Era For Tabletop Playground

The most powerful 3D virtual tabletop on the market is about to take a leap forward.
Dire Wolf Digital and Plasticity Studios have been hard at work on a new version of Tabletop Playground, and now we’re ready to start showing it to the world in a closed Beta test.
What’s New
Our goal is to make Tabletop Playground the best platform for creating and playing tabletop games. In the new version you’ll find:
Modernized Game Creation Flow
Create and edit new components right on the tabletop with our completely revamped creation flow. Thanks to TTP’s stable package architecture, you’ll never lose work in a crash, and even made changes mid-game will apply seamlessly to your starting setups.
Streamlined Component Editing
We’ve rebuilt the object creation UI from the ground up to make it more approachable for newcomers, without sacrificing any of TTP’s trademark flexibility.
And as creators ourselves, we’ve added a variety of simple features and options to speed up common tasks. Sick of using a separate program to make card sheets for your decks? So are we, so we made TTP do it for us. Do you often have components that you need to recreate for each player color? We did too, so we added a “Use Player Color” option.
Custom User Interface Tools
Want to add health bars to your minis, collapsible rules reminders to your board, or a score tracker to your screen? You can do all that and more with our new UI Templates feature.
Updated Controls and UX
We’ve taken a look at every menu, hotkey, and default to try to make the platform as fun as possible to use.
Improved Performance
We’ve upgraded Unreal, allowed compressed textures, and added a new leaner rendering option to improve performance on a wide variety of devices.
…And Much, Much More!
Those are just the highlights of a sweeping round of improvements. And we’re not done either. We’re committed to TTP, and have a slate of more exciting features coming your way.
What This Means for Existing Users
Good things! In the short term, the legacy version of Tabletop Playground and the new beta version will exist in parallel, but don’t worry: Eventually all users will be upgraded to the new version for free.
You also don’t need to worry about your mods; anything created with the legacy client should work on the new version too. Mods created on beta builds will largely be compatible with older builds as well, but elements relying on the beta’s new features may not work as intended. See this article for details.
